Our client is looking for a sole legal counsel to provide legal advice with a commercial focus to the business. The lawyer will also be a “commercial business partner to the company”.
Work closely with all stakeholders in the group in various locations (including C-Level, Compliance, Responsible Gaming, Customer Services, Procurement, Sportsbook, Casino, Trading, Marketing, Brand, Finance, Technology, Fraud and Payments).
Negotiating and drafting commercial agreements alongside the Director of Procurement (including technology, casino products, payments, brand, marketing, compliance and professional services).
Working closely with the Compliance Team to ensure that the regulator licence obligations are being met by the company at all times and acting as a “Compliance Champion”.
Supporting the HR Team with drafting HR agreements (including employment, consultancy side letters), policies, procedures, employee incentive schemes, pension and benefits matters.
Advising on and managing customer and supplier complaints. Instructing and managing external counsel where required.
Working with the Director of Compliance to draft terms and conditions for customer promotions and competitions. Advising on proposed advertising campaigns and ASA and regulatory requirement.
Supporting external consultants and auditors and forming part of project teams where required (compliance, finance, audit).
Acting as the internal company secretary and organising quarterly board, ARC, and REMCO meetings, attending and taking minutes and drafting resolutions. Liaising with regulators for new board member clearance.
Dealing with all corporate governance aspects of the business, including board and committee terms and reference and effectiveness reviews.
Researching gaming legislation and regulation in various jurisdictions around the world and making appropriate recommendations to the Compliance Team and senior management.
Advising on litigation risk and exposure based on consumer and supplier relationships.
Key Working Relationships:
Commercial Business partner to the group.
Maintaining relationships with external legal advisers, suppliers and non-executive board members.
Maintain a very close relationship with the Director of Legal of a close partner business.
Solicitor or Barrister qualified in the UK and/or Isle of Man.
Regulated Industry experience (ideally eGaming, ePayments, finance and/or Technology)
A pro-active business partner mentality, adding value to areas where support is needed and a good business risk awareness, not an ‘in house legal desk’ only.
A positive commercial approach to problem solving in addition to solid legal experience.
Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
Able to manage a comprehensive workload and re-prioritise.
“Can do” attitude essential.
